The story of Wype

Wype is a fast-growing DTC brand operating within the hygiene category, bringing sustainable, science‑led care to intimate health concerns that have been underserved, stigmatised, or ignored. Over time they have built a customer base of over 300,000 across their direct-to-consumer platform, Amazon and retail partners, including Boots and Holland & Barrett. 

The business had built strong early momentum through paid social acquisition. As the brand matured, the founders identified the need to evolve their growth strategy to support long-term, sustainable scale. 

Challenge: Building a scalable, multi-channel growth engine

Wype required a Head of Growth to lead the next phase of its growth journey. 

While the business had successfully driven customer acquisition through paid social, the next stage of growth required a more sophisticated and resilient growth engine. With a rebrand underway and new product development planned to expand the “bottom care” category, the founders needed a senior operator capable of building a multi-channel growth model that could scale sustainably. 

The mandate required a leader who could: 

  • Diversify growth beyond paid social channels 
  • Continue driving customer acquisition whilst also building stronger retention and lifecycle marketing capability 

The role required a rare combination of hands-on performance marketing expertise, commercial thinking and leadership capability - a hybrid skillset not easily accessible through traditional hiring methods. 

Solution: Specialist search partners to engage the entire market

The process was led by Harrison Knowles, who delivered a retained executive search across the UK, mapping over 100 candidates from high-growth consumer brands across beauty, personal care, wellness and subscription-led businesses. 

A competency-based assessment framework was designed to evaluate candidates against Wype’s key priorities, including:

  • Lifecycle and retention capability 
  • Creative testing and experimentation 
  • Ability to design and implement a scalable multi-channel growth strategy

Throughout the process, we worked closely with founders, Giorgia Granata and Eli Khrapko, to refine the mandate and ensure alignment on both the strategic and hands-on requirements of the role. 

Outcome: A new phase of growth for Wype

Wype successfully appointed a Head of Growth with deep experience across D2C acquisition, lifecycle marketing and scaling challenger consumer brands. 

The new hire is responsible for: 

  • Driving Wype’s D2C growth strategy 
  • Improving retention and lifecycle performance 
  • Expanding paid acquisition beyond Meta 
  • Building the growth infrastructure required for the next phase of scale

With fresh investment, a brand refresh underway and new products in development, Wype is entering a new phase of growth as it builds a leading position within the “bottom care” category.
