Advising international and emerging market growth at Jodel

The story of Jodel

Jodel is a founder-led, high-growth social platform with a strong base in Berlin and the DACH region. The brand is on a mission to enable users to instantly engage with the community around them.

As the business matured, they had plans for market expansion. To achieve this, leadership identified the need to reduce reliance on regional subscription revenue and validate growth opportunities in emerging international markets, particularly in the Middle East.

Challenge: Reducing geographic risk and validating emerging markets

Jodel had ambitious plans for international expansion but limited experience operating outside of Germany.

The challenge was to appoint senior leadership capable of shaping product and growth strategy across new markets, while reducing dependency on DACH-region subscription revenue.

Solution: Specialist advisory-led support

Jodel required a trusted advisor who could operate at board level, shape hiring strategy, and support leadership decision-making during a critical growth phase. Bradley was engaged in a retained capacity due to his experience supporting international expansion, emerging markets strategy, and senior leadership appointments in founder-led technology businesses.

Working closely with Jodel’s board and investors, Bradley helped define the international leadership roadmap and led executive searches for key roles – a Product Director and Growth Director.

Bradley also delivered ongoing advisory support to the CEO and board, with continued input into market strategy and leadership planning.

Outcome: International scale

The appointed leaders played a key role in validating and scaling Jodel’s opportunity in Saudi Arabia and other emerging markets.

As a result, the business reduced reliance on DACH-region subscription revenue and reshaped its commercial model from an 80/20 subscription split to a more resilient 60/40 subscription and partnership-based model.
